HELLO CAPT MEMBERS !

In October of 2002 a CAPT FLYER with some important information regarding your new Officers and what CAPT was preparing to do in the next few months went out. Only a small number of those who received this flyer responded. MEMBERSHIP UP-DATE : {Feb. 8th. 2003} Then, CAPT, from October 20th through October 30th attempted to call your facility in an effort to contact you. Our main focus was to up-date our membership files so we can process our communications, to our members, even faster. If you didn't receive a flyer in the mail, asking for contact information, then you are the one's we need to contact. So help us up-date our files by clicking here. Reason for Up-Date . . . In our transitioning, we've decided this would best benefit all of our members, state wide. California is a large state and Psych Tech's in CDC have a tremendous responsibility. So to lighten all of our loads, we need accurate contact information, ASAP ! And let me tell you why . . . We had our first Chapter meeting of "2002" at CAPT Headquarters in Sacramento. It was an open meeting for all Psychiatric Technicians in Corrections, and we wanted you there so we could develope a better union that would benefit it's members. Then we had our first Chapter meeting of "2003" in the southern part of our state (Patton State Hospital) where we discussed issues from other facilities. Even though more attended this meeting then the last . . . many of the same problems - which our members were having - kept popping up. So Finally . . . After two successful Chapter meetings, CAPT has drawn these conclusions. Many members, who'd like to attend our chapter meetings, can't because . . . • They can't get off work to attend. • They don't want to drive that far. • They can't afford the trip. • They don't see the need. • They weren't notified ! Which brings us back to our original assumptions . . . (1) Our contact information needs to be up-dated. (2) And CAPT's web site should be a repository of information and up-dates for our members. • So in the next few months - before CAPT initiates the process of negotiations sometime in June - we will once again attempt to contact you at your facility. This time we will be asking for your departments phone number and {Fax Number}. This way if you needed to change your home phone number or have a change of address, hopefully, we can still contact you at your work. So . . . the quicker we can resolve this issue, the quicker we can resolve your issue. Thanks a lot . . .
